Annual fundraiser mixes spa services with female empowerment

by Danielle Jackson

The Triangle is fortunate to have a wealth of businesses who are focused on providing local products and services while supporting the local community. There are literally dozens of events held each year that showcase some of the great service businesses that the area has to offer while simultaneously giving residents an opportunity to donate their time, money or goods to worthy causes. One such event is All Dolled Up, an event that this year will benefit Dress for Success Triangle NC.

The third annual event is produced by The Triangle’s Other Woman Inc. of Raleigh. Each year, the company — which offers a range of professional services, from housecleaning to accounting to event planning — partners with a different area nonprofit.

“We are excited to have chosen Dress for Success Triangle NC for this year’s event,” says Sarah Benken, president of The Triangle’s Other Woman. “We wanted to give back to the community in a fun way that would support women in need.”

A day at the spa
The theme for this year’s All Dolled Up event is Spa Day. Area spas have signed up to donate their time to attendees, providing 20-minute sessions on everything from manicures and pedicures to facials and massages. There also will be consultations available from hair, makeup and wardrobe specialists, while vendor tables will let guests peruse some of the great locally made items that are available, including jewelry and handbags.

And while a day at the spa might seem like the ultimate experience in relaxation, Benken and her staff are working hard to make sure that All Dolled Up is a success in itself.

“There is nothing greater than women helping other women,” Benken says. “An event like this promotes camaraderie among women of all ages and demographics, all while raising money to support each other.”
