February One: The Story of the Greensboro Four
Watch “February One: The Story of the Greensboro Four,” an award-winning documentary chronicling the historic day — February 1, 1960 — when four black freshmen from the Agricultural and Technical College of North Carolina sat down at a whites-only lunch counter in downtown Greensboro, from 3-4:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at the North Carolina Museum of History in downtown Raleigh. The group’s actions served as a blueprint for other nonviolent civil rights protests across the South and the nation. A question-and-answer session with the film’s producers and some of the people involved in the protests will follow the screening. The event is free and open to the public.

Discover Downtown Walk/Renaissance Ball
Discover the hidden treasures lurking around downtown Wake Forest during this monthly event, which includes a historical walking tour, fitness walk and hidden retail treasures. A Toast to the Triangle
A Toast to the Triangle celebrates its 25th anniversary March 7 at the N.C. State University McKimmon Center in Raleigh. Chapel Hill Spring Garden Tour

The nine gardens on this year’s tour offer gorgeous displays of flowering trees, shrubs, azaleas and other spring delights, in addition to various sculptures, water features, and specimen plants. The tour also features the newly completed, 29,000-square-foot, eco-friendly education center at the North Carolina Botanical Garden. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Benefit Concert
Cheap Trick will headline the 2010 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum benefit concert May 1 at Cary’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre. Other bands include the Georgia Satellites and the Atlanta Rhythm Section, Yes drummer Alan White’s White Sox All-Star Band featuring Spike Edney and Jamie Moss of Queen, former Journey and current Trans-Siberian Orchestra vocalist Jeff Scott Soto, electric rock violinist Geoffrey Castle, progressive rock bass guitarist Bernt Bodal, and Jimi Hendrix Revisited star Randy Hansen.
